Program Description:

At ECHO MALIBU we provide youth and their families with state of the art, omprehensive, holistic treatment for chemical dependency and mental health issues. All program participants are provided with an individualized treatment plan. Each treatment plan is designed and implemented by licensed clinical professionals to identify and treat the underlying causes of addiction and co-occurring emotional disorders, rather than merely focusing on the behaviors that result from addiction.

We realize that the decision you and your family are in the process of making can be frightening and overwhelming. Deciding to seek the help of an adolescent treatment program for a loved one struggling with teen drug abuse, alcoholism, or emotional and behavioral challenges is daunting. Choosing the right treatment program can be even more so.

We urge you to think of us as more than just a teen drug rehab clinic. ECHO MALIBU is dedicated to providing youth with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders, and/or behavioral problems with the highest quality of professional care available.

We understand that adolescent issues are constant struggle for everyone involved. Please know that we are here to offer you support and guidance, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We welcome the opportunity to answer any questions you may have about our adolescent treatment center, teen drug addiction treatment programs, our holistic youth treatment program or other related matters.

Echo Malibu teen treatment center believes that effective treatment is rooted in the Empowerment of those we serve.

At Echo Malibu adolescent treatment center, we empower youth and their families with the knowledge, skills and support systems required to reclaim their lives and live free of chemical dependency. As part of this process, we are committed to identifying and building on the strengths of every individual and family we serve. We never blame or try to break down those who come to us for help. Rather we assist youth in their growth as they strive toward personal accountability and greater self-confidence. We work as a team with youth and their families as equal partners in the creation of each individualized treatment plan. While there are certain elements that are required for any successful treatment, there are many paths to recovery. We look forward to working together to find the one that is best for you.

ECHO MALIBU youth treatment center believes that effective treatment is in large part about learning how to make healthy Choices.

Every aspect of our adolescent treatment program is designed to teach those we serve how to become better at assessing options that occur in their lives. Through a greater understanding of the short and long term consequences of their choices, clients learn to opt for those which promote sobriety, healthy relationships and productive lives.

ECHO MALIBU believes that it is our responsibility to instill Hope.

Frequently when youth and their families reach us they have lost all hope. They have tried other treatment options only to find that sobriety has not been achieved or that it has been followed by rapid relapse. Time and again we have seen youth who have given up on themselves. They have lost the trust of loved ones. With work and integrity, trust can be regained. With compassion and resolve, relationships can be restored. Hope is here for those who claim it.

ECHO MALIBU adolescent drug treatment center believes that all crises are opportunities for growth and change.

Treatment is an opportunity for the entire family to heal. Opportunities to communicate openly, to let go of resentments, to create new ways to cope with adversity, to build more intimacy, and effect positive change, are goals of our program. We make every effort to ensure that youth are provided with optimal opportunities to reconnect with themselves and their loved ones in meaningful ways.

Frequently when family members contact us they tell us that they are unsure if their child has a drug or alcohol problem. In these circumstances we are happy to work with you by phone or when possible, in person to assist you in determining the nature of the issues that are of concern.

We offer the following tips for reaching out to a young person you think might be in trouble.

1. Trust your instincts. If you feel like a member of your family is in trouble, perhaps in need of drug addiction treatment, there’s probably a reason you feel that way. If you reach out and you’re wrong… it only shows that you care.

2. Timing is important. Find a safe time where you can talk freely.

3. Don't be afraid to be open and honest. This is what family is for.

4. Talk about what you have personally observed, instead of making judgments or discussing rumors.

5. Talk about how you feel: worried; scared; concerned; angry; confused; etc. When you talk about your feelings instead of making accusations, you are less likely to get a defensive reaction.

6. Act Now. The sooner you seek the help of a drug abuse treatment center, the more rapidly your loved one will likely be able to make positive changes. The longer you wait, the more established these behaviors become. And of course, some behaviors can be very dangerous.

7. Don't keep it a secret. Don’t keep it a secret. If you think there is a problem, tell someone. Tell a friend, spouse, other family member, teacher, counselor, or call us. We know this is hard to do, but when it comes teen drug abuse, secrets can be deadly.

8. Do the research into teen drug addiction for them. Find out about drug addiction treatment programs and other options. Even if your child acknowledges that they need help, they may be resistant to treatment if they are only aware of outdated, punitive treatment programs. Let them know there are better options available today. Be prepared to tell them about these options. If you contact us, we will send you materials that you can place in their hands to reduce their anxiety about getting the teen drug help they need.

9. Don't give up. If your first attempt to help a family member hasn't had the desired effect, a different approach may be in order. Changing behavior is difficult. Get help from professionals who specialize in helping youth make meaningful behavioral changes.

10. Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you need any assistance, please call us. There are no stupid questions. We have devoted our lives to this work because we are passionate about helping families who are experiencing these types of challenges. It is the single reason that our program exists.
