Program Description:
The Elk River Wilderness Challenge is an eight-week adventure and assessment program, providing complete orientation and diagnostic services, supplemented by a clinically supported outdoor challenge. The program is designed for teens ages 12-18 that are experiencing difficulty in school and/or their private and family lives.
Being a teenager is tough. Being the parent of a teenager can be even tougher. The difficulties and challenges faced by today's teens and families can seem overwhelming. Sometimes, what starts as poor school performance or minor conflicts can deteriorate into behaviors that may become dangerous and destructive.
As a parent, you may confront issue and feelings that are frustrating and frightening. Where do you go for your answers? Most critically, where do you go for help?
The programs of The Pinnacle Schools, Inc. provide diagnostic and clinically supported treatment services for struggling teens ages 12-18 and their families.
The therapeutic intervention provided by our programs halts maladaptive behavior patterns and assists teens in discovering their strengths, talents, and potential. The entire wilderness experience promotes esteem-building, new thought processes and communicative skill development. These assets become the tools necessary to build productive self-confident and goal-oriented lives.

The Pinnacle Schools, Inc. was founded in the spring of 2005 by a group of caring professionals committed to effective and affordable high quality services for struggling teens. The programs of TPS are empirically derived for the assessment and treatment of struggling teens. The health and safety of your child is of paramount importance. To this end, we use the outdoors and the challenge of the wilderness as a therapeutic teaching tool, not as a punishment.
What began as one therapeutic wilderness program for "struggling teens" in 2005 has evolved and grown into four separate and distinct programs, each designed to meet the needs of the teen and their family.
