Program Description:
La Europa Academy is designed to serve female adolescents from 14-17 years of age. We work with issues and disorders such as depression, bi-polar, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol, personality features and other relational and emotional problems.
Students who would not be appropriate for La Europa Academy are those with active psychosis, conduct disorder, are aggressive, have a criminal background or are a high run risk.
At La Europa Academy we work from a strengths perspective. We have combined intensive therapy and high standards of education creating a learning and relational environment for healing. We work together with families, helping them overcome emotional, core patterns and issues. Our goal is to reunite the family after the treatment process.
At La Europa Academy we also focus on the Fine Arts as a medium for therapy. We encourage expression through clay, sculpture, drawings, paintings, dance and photography. Students participate in Fine Arts classes such as: dance, music, art, ceramics, film making, and digital photography. Additionally we have integrated a Yoga program with certified instructors which will meet three times weekly.
Our Master’s level therapists provide weekly individual and family sessions. Specialized groups provide attention to problems such as trauma, abuse, addiction, body image, attachment, sexual reactivity, and others. Students strive to gain an understanding of who they are and what is driving their self-destructive behavior rather than only focusing on symptom relief.
