Program Description:

Moonridge Academy, a CERTS facility, serves the emotional, educational, spiritual, physical and relationship needs of young adolescent girls ages 11-16 in a holistic way. Moonridge specializes in the treatment of pre-teen and teenage depression, anger, behavior problems, adoption issues, self-harm and other relationship issues in a small “family-like” environment.



Moonridge treatment is especially designed for younger adolescents ages 11-15. Our focus on these ages allows us to use specific therapeutic methods of less “talk” and more “do” that works best for early adolescents. In a safe and nurturing environment, the intensive individual, group and family therapy blends with outdoor adventure therapy, equine activities and horticulture therapy. Psychiatric medication management is available. Family participation is an essential component of treatment at Moonridge Academy involving long-distance family therapy, frequent family therapeutic visits and intensive therapeutic Parent Weekends six times per year.

The accredited academic education teaches girls how to be learners, how to find self confidence and success in school and uses teaching methods to impart that learning is related to real life. Moonridge teachers believe that all students are capable of learning through student-centered education where teachers move from the mentor to the guide in the learning process.

The Personal Greatness Program helps girls find their self-worth, helps them identify values and principles to live by, teaches them how to lead and inspire their peers, teaches how to build healthy relationships, teaches girls to do the right thing for the right reason, teaches girls to be of service to others and offers individual relationships between girls and staff that create lasting love and care.
