Program Description:
Paint Rock Valley utilizes the group process model, which helps adolescents work towards solutions to daily problems by emphasizing goal setting and achieving positive thinking and redirection. Through trial and error, these adolescents learn to make better choices in their lives. The program is adventure-based and designed to cultivate health both in body (through athletics, physical education, outdoor trips and vocational training) and in spirit (through a group culture which creates community and the give and take of support in such a culture).
Three Springs of Paint Rock Valley offers separate therapeutic campuses for boys and girls ages 13-18 who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioral problems. Here they can safely begin to discover their hidden potential by learning about their personal strengths. Paint Rock Valley recognizes the importance of the family’s involvement in the therapeutic process and provides numerous opportunities for the families to participate in the programming with their child.
The students attend an on-campus school which is accredited through SACS. They also rotate through 4 electives which include Adventure Programming, Equine Therapy, Vocational instruction, and Family Dynamics. Academic credit is awarded for each elective as well as the therapeutic benefits it provides for our students. Upon graduation from high school, students can begin earning college credit through on-line courses. Weekly specialty groups are offered throughout the program which focus on issues including adoption, grief, boundaries, separation or divorce of parents, anger management, substance use and abuse.
