Program Description:

Uinta Academy is a small, very therapeutically intensive residential treatment / academic program licensed by the State of Utah Department of Human Services. Uinta Academy has three campuses, two-16 bed Residential Treatment Centers and one-12 bed Transitional/Independent Living Program. The girls receive psychiatric services, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, recreational therapy, and equine therapy. Uinta Academy has an extremely effective daily living milieu that focuses on building strengths, developing self-esteem, and teaching social, academic, and independent living skills. Each campus is located on a small ranch in close proximity to each other in Northern Utah. Each girl gets her own horse for which she is responsible. The girls also participate in physical fitness activities at a local sports/fitness complex. In addition, students have access to numerous educational/recreational activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, the cultural arts, gardening, and light farm chores.

Uinta Academy serves adolescent girls, ages 12 through 17, who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems, including but not limited to the following: Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Adoptive/Attachment Issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, eating disorders, low self esteem, self harm problems, and academic/school behavior problems.

The clinical staff at Uinta Academy are some of the most respected and experienced professionals in the field of adolescent residential treatment. They are all Ph.D. and Masters level professionals. Our Senior staff have over 100 years of experience helping troubled adolescents and their families re-connect. All of the teachers at Uinta Academy are State certified educators. The academic program at Uinta Academy is accredited and credits are transferable to any other accredited school and accepted by all accredited Colleges and Universities. Each girl has an individualized educational program that is tailored to her needs. Students that are behind academically are able to catch up to grade level. Specialized education programs can be developed, such as study at the University level and Vocational Schools.
