Program Description:
West Ridge Academy works with mild to moderately troubled youth in a professional, but caring therapeutic environment. Our program includes individual, family and group therapy. West Ridge services include a private, fully accredited school with over 70 courses offered, athletic programs, recreational therapy, and a very creative music program option. We also offer specialty groups for chemical dependency, grief, adoptive issues and character development.
Youth live in homes with 15 students to each home. These homes function as a team. Three residential staff are assigned to a specific home. Home staff coordinate all their efforts with the clinical therapist assigned to the specific home through daily progress reports, staff meetings and monthly treatment team meetings. Academics and recreation therapy are all represented in our monthly treatment team meetings.
All efforts are made to match the right youth with the right therapist. The right clinical relationships and mentoring is crucial to the changes that families are seeking for their sons and daughters being placed in our care.
Our average length of stay is 10-12 months. As a step down from residential care day programs and foster care are used as tools to test the waters with new found skills and attitudes. Programmatically, it is mandatory that every youth participate in the aftercare component of our clinical offering. We have found that this reduces recidivism dramatically and makes for an easier transition for our youth back home.
West Ridge is a unique, well rounded clinically based program designed to facilitate a change of heart in every young man and young women that we serve.
