Program Description:

The Sommerset program is a residential treatment center for boys and girls ages 10 – 14 located in Springville, Utah. Sommerset has been in existence as a distinct program successfully treating students since 1993 and is owned an operated by Provo Canyon School. The program is designed to meet the needs of boys and girls who have unique behavioral, emotional and social delays. The structured living environment provides separate boys and girls programs and allows therapists, cottage staff, and teachers to dedicate their time to the distinct developmental needs of the student body. The staff to student ratio allows therapists to provide immediate feedback, support in setting daily goals, while leaving time for learning, exercise, fun and play.

The program is licensed by the Utah Department of Human Services and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accredited Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The elementary and middle school are accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS).

Mission Statement

The Sommerset Program strives to represent the best in treatment and education services for youth and parents. Our goal is to provide the most effective environment for youth to excel both emotionally and educationally so that they can become effective members of a community. We do this by:

Challenging students through a variety of therapeutic and academic modalities.
Giving students insight through art, nature, nutrition, holistic health, numerous recreational and outdoor experiences.
Hiring caring, qualified staff.
Allowing staff the autonomy to further develop in their areas of expertise.
Continually striving to meet the ever changing needs of the industry and our customers.
Involving parents in the treatment process through family therapy, education and ongoing support.
Continually developing and monitoring outcomes of all our services and students.

The Sommerset Program offers a year round small setting academic program for elementary and middle school aged students. Students that come to the Sommerset Program often have struggled academically in a more traditional setting. We offer students the opportunity to work toward reaching their full potential through a supportive academic environment.
